Attention Builders, Mechanics, Plumbers - and people who love Hammers!
I have been meaning to write a page on this for some time, then yesterday, I 'slightly dented' my index finger with a hammer, and because I suffered absolutely no pain (as soon as I treated it) Again - I felt the urgency to get this information out there so others could benefit.
I still have vivid memories (years ago) of my hubby whacking his finger with a hammer, bravely carrying on (as builders do) and how the following days went. Black nail, heaps of pain, incredible pressure building under the nail, and - this is not for the fainthearted - I remember him trying to drill a hole in his nail to let out the....... then in most cases loosing the nail - well I think you get the idea.
That was before I made the most amazing discovery.
I stress here, that I can take absolutely no credit for this. This information came from my very favourite book - 10 Essential Herbs by Lalitha Thomas that I think it is likely you have heard me mention before. I refer to it constantly because the information in it REALLY WORKS!!! AND IS VERY SIMPLE!
Since learning about this, I have had many occasions where I have either whacked my finger, crushed a toe, shut a finger in a door, and so on. I feel all builders should have these things on hand, and save themselves, and or their workers much pain, distress, and cost - and possibly needless time off work.
Here's what I do:
I liberally spread, right around the finger the C.C. Ointment I make - (C.C. stands for Cayenne and comfrey). Then press as much cayenne powder as possible into the cream. Then bind it up. The pain instantly goes - no reaching for pain killers, its so amazing - I left it like that over night. Today I applied Dabbit, to prevent any infection starting as I had broken the skin.
I did this to my finger yesterday, I hit it hard enough that it split, and here is a picture of it today. You can see the colour of the nail is the same as my 'non-hit' fingers, the finger is not at all sore today, I am using it to type, build - (carrying on with what I was doing yesterday). I will apply the stuff again tonight overnight to help with the bruising.

If you dont have any of my ointment, just use anything like a thick cream instead and press the powder into it.
Another thing the book recommends for bruises is a flat slice of onion. That also works really well, but I find for fingers and toes what I describe above is the most effective.
